We cooked a ton. Have you ever seen or tried to cook a 22 lb turkey? We did. It was the biggest turkey that Dad could find. Nothing is too big for the Adams family. He is from Texas. Maybe that says something.

The weather was pretty amazing. It felt like a warm September day. Some may complain saying they want it to feel like a regular, cold Thanksgiving Day. I was completely okay with having a T shirt, jeans, and no jacket on outside.
Amy's friend, Jenna, from App State spent the holiday with us. She's awesome AND she's from California.

Poor baby Aaron was sick but cute as ever.

He loved Bryce's beard.
Years ago, probably 1996 or 1997, my Mom, as creative and cute as she always was, pulled out a simple linen table cloth one Thanksgiving and started a long standing tradition. Every year since then, we each have signed this tablecloth (when we are all together and at home for the holiday) writing the date and specific things we were thankful for that year. Each year is especially fun reading back on things we said at different times in our lives. We read things from my Mom, and even from my Mom's parents who have also passed away years ago. When Bryce and I got married, I was quick to buy a simple linen tablecloth of our own to start the tradition for our family. I love traditions. There's just something really special about them and the memories they create.
These are from 2 years ago.
Abby got to sign it this year for the first time :)

Before one of the meals we had, Abby wanted to pray for us. It went something like this, "Thank you Jesus for the trees and houses and animals and how you made them so beautiful just for You. Thank you for Mom and Dad and baby Aaron. Amen."
We also celebrated some old lady's birthday.
Elissa! This is so special. I absolutely love the table cloth idea - can we steal it?! How very wonderful that you get to read back on years past, especially ones written by your mom.
ReplyDeleteOther thoughts from this:
1) I am so not surprised at your dad's turkey.
2) ABBY AND AARON ARE ADORABLE
3) I had to do a double take if it was Emily or Amy in the picture on the swing.
I love the tablecloth idea!! I might start that here! Love the pictures.
