I thought about having a third child for a few seconds. Then read this on one of my favorite blogs and quickly realized why we are waiting for awhile until we think about #3.
For a 200 mg pill of ibuprofen, in the USA, you pay 1.8 cents per pill. In Switzerland, you pay 46.7 cents per pill. That's exactly 26 times more expensive. As you can guess, I bought my first and last pack of ibuprofen pills here in Switzerland. In general, I am becoming less sticker-shocked at prices since you can expect to pay about twice the price for most things. When we go to the USA, I will be drooling at price tags as I spend hours roaming the aisles of Costco, Target, and Walmart.
We started watching The Americans on Amazon Prime. It's a very interesting show produced by a former CIA agent. Have you heard of it? It's mainly about the relationships, but the storyline follows two Russian spies-KGB officers-living in the USA during the 80s. Keri Russell, high waisted jeans, 80s music, and some interesting historical events all take part in it.
We started potty training Madison on Monday. I am trying to let go of my fear of failure with potty training. This is our second try at it. The first try ended with her begging to wear diapers again. So far, she is doing really well. It's been 5 days inside the house almost all day with a half naked little girl running around. Without anything on her bottom, she never has an accident. We tried underwear a few times this week and it ended with many accidents. This afternoon, I put underwear on her and she used the potty by herself! I think we're getting places.
Maddie prayed before dinner this past week for the first time ever (while Uncle Brad was visiting). It went, "Jesus loves me this I know. I love you a bushel and a peck. Aaaaaamen." It was the sweetest.
I can't stop thinking about Stitchfix. What a great business idea. I wish I thought of it. I think either of my sisters-Amy or Amanda-would be awesome as personal stylists. I really want to try it out. Have you or anyone you know tried it?
I baked this cinnamon coffee cake today while trying to fight Maddie off of the bowl of dough. It won't last through the weekend. So good.
One of Carter's top front teeth is sloooowly coming in giving us the most fun, happy, non-clingy baby ever (not).
I just finished the book Unbroken. Amazing for two reasons: I think it's the first book that I've read through cover to cover in over a year, and two, the story is so incredible that I've been googling Louis Zamperini, the Bird, and World War II all week.
I took 2.5 hours to myself last Sunday. It was weird, also, for two reasons: it was maybe the first time that I left Bryce with both kids, and two, it was a Sunday so I spent the time at one of the only places open-the airport (and paid too much for parking).
OK I LOL'd at you spending your free time at the airport!!!! HAHAHA! How hysterical!
ReplyDeleteUnbroken - did I tell you to read that? If I didn't, I should've. SO. GOOD.
Soo proud of you and Maddie with potty training!
Will's 2nd top tooth is slow as molasses coming through. It budded at the same time as the left one, which pushed right on through. The right one though... omg. Please just come.
Need to make the cinnamon coffee cake.
and Amanda kinda scared me too :) :) :)
Can I mail you some ibuprofen??
Don't worry about the ibuprofen. I bought it for Bryce and then he told me that we have 2 bottles of 100 pills in them. I'm sure we have plenty :-)
DeleteUnbroken was sitting on my bookshelf for forever, but yes, you did encourage me to get on it!
Now go use up all that free time you have and make the coffee cake.
i agree with meredith, can we ship you some ibuprofen!?
ReplyDeleteand thanks for the shout out. unfortunately you guys have the cutest kids ever, so you have to have at least 100 more.
Don't worry about the ibuprofen :-)
