Uncle Aaron and Aunt Christin visit

I know what you're thinking.  Nearly 2 months without posts and now two posts in two days!  The mom life is crazy, ok?  One moment, I'm feeling overwhelmed with everything in life, the next moment, I get organized and semi-on top of things with the blog (just using one naptime break!).  And let me tell you, the nap time break is more valuable than gold.  Should I wash the dishes?  Do my second load of laundry since our washer and dryer can fit about one towel per load?  Should I meal and grocery plan?  Should I email a sweet friend back?  Dare I say, should I actually read a book?  Or shower?  Or or or...  I only get about one hour since Maddie's quiet time is one hour with her amazing traffic light alarm clock.  There's just never enough time with kids and it's still hard for me to accept even after more than 3 years experiencing it.  At the end of the day, everyone is healthy, fed, warm, sleeps in a bed, and I really love them.  Now back to the blog.

This Fall, we have had so many visitors!  I've been meaning to write all about each visit, but haven't had the chance with all that's going on right now.

To start off, back in September, Uncle Aaron and Aunt Christin stopped by for a long weekend while on an amazing European adventure.  We were so excited to have them here!  They were traveling with their good friends, Michelle and Tyler.  We had so much fun.

Waiting for them to arrive at the airport.

We took them into Zurich for an afternoon and dinner.  We just walked around, took pictures, and enjoyed a hearty dinner at our favorite place to take visitors.

Lots more (click below)!

I still love Zurich despite prices which are seem absurd.

Then we went away for a weekend in the mountains.  We left early Saturday morning and went towards Murren.  We dropped by Isenfluh for lunch since the Jungfrau marathon blocked a road for a couple hours.

To get to Isenfluh, you literally go through a spiral tunnel that goes up to this town basically resting on the edge of a cliff.  We stayed here last winter with Dad and Kim.

After lunch, we continued through the Lauterbrunnen Valley to Stechelberg to take the cable car up to Murren.  We spent the rest of the day walking around Murren and taking in the beauty and perfect weather.
Lauterbrunnen Valley-very popular for paragliding and wingsuit jumping

Seriously.  Save up some money and go to Murren, Switzerland between June and September.  There's nothing like it.

These kids just don't even know.  I think we'll have to recreate these pictures in about 10 or 15 years.  Or maybe I'm just trying to think of reasons to plan another trip there.

We hiked down the mountain a little ways on a little trail and found ourselves at one of the jumping off points.  It was terrifying!  There was a walkie talkie to call down and let them (who?) know that you were jumping.  It was such a sheer cliff that we wouldn't let the kids down and really, it had us all a little uneasy so we weren't there long.

Directions on how to jump...with your parachute or wing suit.  If you can't imagine, just watch this (the jump is near the end of the video) which are jumps from the exact place where we were!

From Murren, we drove to Wengen, on the other side of the valley up another mountain.  We stayed in Wengen for the night.  We ate pizza, drank wine, ate chocolate, and talked for a few hours.  Our place was a perfect 3 bedroom apartment.  It seriously would've been perfect for a ski holiday or even mid summer vacation.  I kept thinking, we need to come back with our entire family!!

We spent most of the evening out on the back porch enjoying the view.

It was a shame because the second day, it was really foggy and rainy in the mountains.  So we ate an amazing breakfast and headed back towards Zurich.

We dropped by Luzern to walk around and grab lunch.  It wasn't raining there, so it was nice to walk around the old town.

The last night we were there, we celebrated Maddie's third birthday with brownies.  She also got to open presents from some family members back home.

I was thinking that the kids would take a few days to warm up to Uncle Aaron and Aunt Christin, but it took about 2 seconds!  Even Carter was completely different from 6 months prior, when he would barely leave my side.  It was really cute to watch them play altogether.

  1. Hope you all made it safe to US and that you're getting settled in. My husband and I have prayed for your safety and to acclimate with children. God Bless
