Random

The weather has been ridiculous here. On Saturday, it was sleeting kind of, actually more like mini snowballs falling, then raining, then sunny and nice. It will be 80 degrees one day, then in the 40s the next day. BUT has anyone noticed all the beautiful forsythia popping out everywhere? It's like a reminder that Spring IS coming even though we have light snow showers on and off.

I'm starting to plan what flowers and veggies to put in our garden this year. Just have to wait until there's no chance of it frosting again. I want to try a few new things, particularly some flowers that I can cut and have in vases throughout the summer. I want to try growing more herbs also, and maybe drying them out (money saver!).

I have been hearing of so many people getting married or getting pregnant. I have a serious case of baby fever. Speaking of, I saw this on a blog that I occasionally read, and thought it was the cutest thing ever--how one couple announced the gender of their baby.

This book is next on my pleasure reading list (along with many others...hopefully this summer I'll have some non-school-reading time).

I've been feeling pretty bored in the kitchen lately. I haven't had much time to try any new recipes. It's pretty much our standard easy week night meals: tacos or tostadas, spaghetti, soup & salad or grilled cheese, grilled chicken breasts and a salad, breakfast for dinner, take-out sushi, BLTs, chili. I have tried a few things in the crock pot like pork BBQ sandwiches. We need some variety. Maybe I need to look back at my Rachael Ray 30 minute meals cookbook.

Only 4 weeks left in the semester!! Then 1 or 2 summer classes, "blocking" semester in the Fall (observing in the classroom), then student teaching next Spring, then I'll be a K-6 licensed elementary teacher!

I'll leave you with Abby (from my visit to Cincinnati a couple weeks ago)...

She's becoming quite the performer, which is funny because she's shy around those she doesn't know. But when she's in dressing rooms at the mall, it's a different story.
