Madison: 4 months old!

The day we had our entire house packed up into boxes, we had Madison's 4 month check up.

Everything was great!  She is right on track with everything.  She is giggling, smiling, grabbing at things and bringing them to her mouth, "talking", still rolling from tummy to back, and almost sitting up on her own.  Just a little more practice and she will be sitting up on her own in no time.  She holds her head up with no problem now.

She is squealing and talking all the time now.
Sleep:  She is doing great.  She sleeps all night, from about 9 or 10pm until 5 or 6am, then goes back to sleep until 8 or 9am.  Considering all the traveling over the holidays, plus traveling in between leaving Blacksburg, skiing with friends for a long weekend, staying in a hotel, then going to Greensboro, then flying to Portland, then staying in a hotel, then staying in temporary housing until we find a home, she is doing great.  Our life is crazy right now.  Her naps are a little more consistent, usually 3 naps a day, morning, mid day, and late afternoon, each about 40 minute.

She is getting stronger these days.  Definitely doesn't mind tummy time like she did before.

New thing: chewing on her two left-hand fingers.

Eating:  We are still breastfeeding.  The big news: we can start solid foods.  This can make many moms pretty nervous.  I am a little nervous, but I could barely contain my excitement.  I don't know why.  I just couldn't wait to try and feed her with a spoon!  It was so fun!

First time trying oatmeal!
Success!  She really liked it and kept reaching out for it.

Second time eating oatmeal.  Proud mama!

She has tried oatmeal three times now and loves it.  She has reached out, grabbed the spoon and tried to pull it to her mouth.  She doesn't have the technique down yet, still using a sucking motion and pushing out with her tongue, but hopefully she gets the hang of it soon.  She has already improved in just a few feedings.  We have been giving it to her once a day around lunch time.

Photoshoot with Mimi!

Still blowing bubbles a lot.

Growth:
Birth - 6 lb 3 oz , 20 inches
1 month - 8 lb , 21.5 inches
2 months - 8 lb 14 oz , 23 inches
4 months - 12 lb, 4 oz, 24 inches

Working those core muscles and holding her head up often.  It's as if she is doing sit ups all the time.  She really wants to sit up on her own.
What are you doing, mom?

She smiles with that tongue out a lot.  Adorable!

This girl is funny.  She gets frustrated with something, it becomes obvious by her expressions and verbal squeaking.

We are having more and more fun as she grows, responds, and begins to get a personality.  It is awesome.
