Cannon Beach

Bryce and I drove to Cannon Beach for the day at the beginning of May.  It was such a beautiful Saturday.

SIDENOTE: Can I tell you, on Memorial Day weekend, I was sadly jealous and moped while it was pouring rain.  I looked at pictures of people at lakehouses, beaches, pools, and in the sunshine.  And it was something like the 8th day in a row of rain and cruddy weather.  Boo.  BUT (!) this entire week has been sunny and beautiful.  We've been out every day.  I even got my first little sunburn (not something to be proud of) on my shoulders.  I love getting outside with Madison, even just on a blanket in the front yard on our only patch of grass we have.

So, I had heard that Oregon beaches aren't that warm and that I should bring a jacket.  So here I am, with jeans and a tank top, 80 degrees in the sun, wishing I could take my pants off!

It was nice to lay on the beach for a few hours and put our feet in the water (for .2 seconds before they began to go numb).  Even though it was just an afternoon, something about the beach is relaxing and refreshing.

This is a very rare sight: Madison with a pacifier!  She literally hasn't taken one since she was around 4 months old.
Madison actually was not feeling well all day.  We debated about going, but ended up giving in to the beautiful weather.  She was a trooper, but I felt bad that evening when she was fussy with a runny nose and a low fever.  Low and behold, the next day, her first tooth showed up!

Next time, we need to bring an umbrella and chairs.  Oops.  You wouldn't realize how nice it is to have those on the beach until you forget them!  Cannot wait to go back.
