Silver Star Trail hike

Bryce and I went on our second hike with Madison near the end of April.  We were itching to get out, even though the weather was overcast and chilly.

The drive was pretty easy until we got about 5 miles away.  Then it was a very rough rocky dirt road.  We kept saying that we're glad we have 4 wheel drive.

We found a great looking hike in Washington about 1.5 hours away.  When we finally got on the road that led to the trailhead after getting lost and missing a turn, people actually stopped and told us to turn around because of the snow.  We couldn't even get to the trailhead parking lot because of the snow packed road.  I followed Bryce's lead, we snapped on our gators, put on all the clothes we had, and headed towards the trail.

We didn't realize it would be that cold (40s) up there and we definitely didn't bring enough layers for Madison.  BUT, she was plenty warm, thanks to 2 pairs of new socks (mine) that were in the car, 2 burp cloths, a warm hat, 2 blankets, and a fleece jacket.  Plus, the baby backpack that we got (and love already) has a rain shield that protected her from any wind as well.

She was so warm that she slept most of the hike!

It was supposed to be around a 5 mile hike, but we only made it about 1.5 miles in and had to turn around because it was so snowy and we couldn't see the trail.
happy girl!

Aaaaand she's asleep again
