Said by Maddie lately (as in, the last few months) because I don't want to forget these little moments:
As I start making her a peanut butter and jelly sandwich, she rushes to push her stool over and see what's going on above her eye level at the counter (which happens very often). As she pats the slice of bread, "That's my sandwich. Mmm..... Mama, I want a BIG sandwich! Turkey! And lettuce! Lots of lettuce!" Then I change plans and start to make it. She helps spread mayo and mustard on the bread slice. Licking the butter knife, "Mmmm mustard. I love mustard."
On a long walk, as usual, she insists on walking for almost the entire way and I practically beg her to ride in the stroller. She jumps out and is walking again with a container of dry cheerios which inevitably spills. "Aaaaaaw maaaaaaan." She proceeds to put every last one into the container.
"It's a snake!" which she often says after going on the potty.....sorry for that mental image. It was hilarious the first time she said it.
On our way home from playgroup, we drive by Bryce's office and I ask "Where is Daddy?" She responds, "He is eating yogurt in the city in the building."
We were FaceTiming with Mimi and Pops the other day asking Maddie who was a boy/girl. I asked, "What are you?" She responded, "I'm a princess."
After I said "yes" to making cookies..."Mama, you are the best friend that I find. I lub you." (I thought this was so cute...she's never said 'best friend' before. Lately she's been talking about all of her friends, who is her friend, etc. Now she said I am her best friend nearly every day.)
"Push me really higher!!!!!" said on the swing. over and over.
Most kids go through a "But why?" stage. We are in the "What is [eeeez] that?" Even when she knows what it is, she sometimes asks that. It's like she just wants us to say it.
When I ask her a question and she's not sure or doesn't know the answer, she says, "You say it!"
In the bathtub last week (they get a bath together every night and she is fascinated by the difference between boys and girls...) "Mommy, I want to be a boy!!"
One evening, I said, "Okay Maddie, we need to clean up the blocks because they're everywhere and it's a big mess." Maddie replies, "Mommy, that's not my job."
She disappeared for a few minutes into our room. I heard her shuffling around. I asked, "Maddie, what are you doing?" She replied, "Mommy, you don't come in here. I go to work. It's my job." I walk in and she had Daddy's work pants out along with a belt, was trying to put the pants on, and then was jumping up to try and reach a work shirt.
Lately, if she's not getting what she wants, she denies everything I say, for example:
M: "But I want to go to the park!!!!! I don't want to go home!!"
"But the sun is going down, we need to go home."
M: "No, the sun is not going down. No, we not need go home."
"But Daddy will be home soon and he will be hungry for dinner.
M: "No, he will not be home soon. No, he not be hungry."
Then screaming, kicking, flailing of hands, or the 'go limp and fall to the ground' happens or they all happen simultaneously.
haha! after potty david says it looks like a banana :)
ReplyDeletealso, the boy/girl bathtub talk. we have a LOT of that in our house. mostly from mary virginia, who is upset that she isn't a boy. anatomically speaking, anyway. she feels left out!
Awww you're her best friend!! That is so sweet :)
