Saturdays

Every Saturday that we are home, we eat waffles for breakfast.  I usually make a whole batch and freeze them so we have our own "Eggo" waffles that are easily thrown into the toaster for a quick breakfast.  Most days, I don't think I could live without Bisquick.

Bryce and I got to spend the beautiful day together while all the graduation craziness happened in Blacksburg for Virginia Tech.  I ran some errands while he mowed the lawn, then we decided to go on a hike.  We went hiking to Angel's Rest.  (Another to check off my list!)  It was a good half-day hike, just down the road in Pearisburg about 25 minutes away.

Near the top, the trail entered a forest of rhododendron.  It was beautiful.

The hike was hard!  Straight up the mountain and then straight down.  It was only about 1.7 miles up to the top, but it was tough.

You know it was a good workout when you feel it the next day.  I had to stop quite a bit to catch my breath.  There weren't many switch backs and maybe 2 places where it flattened for a few seconds when you could rest your quads while heading up.

Others on my list to do in Virginia: Kelly's Knob, Petite's Gap, Crabtree Falls, The Priest, Spy Rock, Apple Orchard Falls, Old Rag, Barney's Wall (done the Cascades, but never this trail), and Flat Top (we've done Sharp Top, but didn't have time to do Flat Top).

Who would have known I would become a little hiker?  I guess the keys to this are after having met Bryce and living in Southwest Virginia.

That night we came home and had the Langs over for dinner and Settlers of Catan.  Do you have those friends that live close to you, but you feel like you never see them enough?  That's the Langs for us.  If only we got to hang out more often.   They are pretty fierce Catan players, too.
