Boulder

We really loved Boulder.  We stayed for a few days, hung out with Kyle and Cayce, and explored the area a little.

The Flat Irons are literally 5-10 minutes down the road from downtown Boulder.  It's beautiful.  The weather was just about perfect every day, sunny, 70s, with a breeze.  I'm glad we had a few days in Boulder before we left to go hiking.  Boulder itself is at an elevation of 5,430 ft, so it's a "mile high" city.  We had a chance to get slightly used to the high elevation.  Boulder is known for being very liberal and was actual a choice spot for hippies in the 1960s.  One can actually get prescriptions for "medical" marijuana in Boulder (...weird).  It's also home to University of Colorado which happens to be a great engineering school and the state's largest university.

They took us up the mountain to a point that overlooks the city of Boulder.

Then they made us from scratch pizzas on the grill.  Yum!

Kyle knows what he is doing.

Bryce loves Boulder.

Bryce and I went on an afternoon bike ride around Boulder. It is the most bike-friendly city I have ever been to.  There are trails EVERYWHERE and bikers EVERYWHERE.

We walked around Pearl Street looking at all the shops and restaurants.  Initially went for ice cream, but ended up getting some from Safeway and heading back to the house.

While Kyle and Cayce were at work, we spent a little time lounging in the park across the street and researching for our upcoming road trip.

None other than Jacob Apple showed up for a cook out!  It was really fun seeing him.

Great hosts.  We miss them already. *Notice their shirts*

Boulder is known for breweries and beer.

Bryce had a great meeting with a guy at NIST about postdoctorate program opportunities.  Now it's just a matter of applying and seeing what happens.  The (2) possible positions seem like great opportunities if that's where God takes us.
