Aunt Amy visits: Part 2

Amy was with us for a few more days after our weekend in Paris and I tried to give her a good taste of Switzerland, as much as I could with the kids in tow.

First off, we took a long walk around Bulach just like the kids used to do almost every day.  We walked across the creek, by the apartment buildings towards downtown.  We went down the main street, over to the post office, and we stopped at our favorite bakery for treats before we headed back home.

One of the things I loved the most about Amy's visit was that she really experienced a lot of our regular life and routine there.  Not just walking, but grocery shopping, to Maddie's 'tournen' gym class in Kloten with friends, then she dropped Maddie off at waldspielgruppe and we had coffee at my good friend's house while Maddie was in the forest.

Their sweet teacher, Elvira, gave them treats and bags on their last gym class day.
We celebrated Thanksgiving on Wednesday night.  We had roasted chicken with gravy, mashed potatoes, green beans, sweet potato casserole, and blackberry pie.

The ONE turkey at my grocery store was around 70 francs...so we had chicken.

On Thursday, both Thanksgiving and my birthday, we had a girls afternoon.  Bryce came home early to stay with Carter and we went in to Zurich.  It was really cold.  We walked around the Zurich Christmas market at Bellevue, we got coffee/tea at Cafe Schober which is one of the most well known coffee shops in the area.  It's so quaint, cozy, and old fashioned inside, especially beautiful at Christmas time.  The entire place was full of ornate and whimsical Christmas decorations.  Maddie was so cute being "fancy" with her own cup of hot chocolate and her little velvet and gold painted chair.

She tried roasted chestnuts downtown, a staple street food in the winter.

On her last day, we drove down to the Lucerne area to visit Mt. Pilatus.  It was a perfect day on my favorite mountain top with stunning views.  If you ever go to Switzerland, you should go there.

And that was her visit to Switzerland!  I am so so thankful that she was able to make it out with work and the flights and everything else.  She did catch a serious sickness...the travel bug has a hold of her now.
