After spending a couple days hiking in Yosemite, we were ready for something different (a little more relaxing). We drove about 1 1/2 hours to a different side of the park, to Tenaya Lake and around Tuolumne Meadows.
Tuolumne Meadows were beautiful. It was an expanse of meadows at around 6,000 ft elevation.

We heard that it was like being in a postcard. We spent the whole day in our bathing suits laying out by the lake. It was so nice!

The lake has very clear (very cold) water, and it's surrounded by granite mountains.

Late in the afternoon, we drove to Lake Tahoe. We thought it would be a really long drive, but it was only about 2 1/2 hours. It was a pretty neat drive, through mountains to really flat lands with tons of cattle and farms. Leaving Yosemite...

So we got there in time for dinner at a Baja Fresh that we found. Yum.
