We're headed out to California on Tuesday--tomorrow--yikes it came quick! We are really excited. For a chunk of the trip, we'll be able to visit this special lady:

Meet my Nanny. She is lovely inside and out. We are kindred spirits, as Anne of Green Gables would say. Kindred spirits= two people that make a special connection by sharing a bond that has joined them by the means of an experience that has drawn them together on a higher level of consciousness. This connection can be from the same experience at the same time or two separate experiences similar in nature. (Source: Urban Dictionary) Nanny is precious and if you met her, you'd love her too. She loves Jesus with all of her heart, old movies, good company, sharing Jesus with everyone she comes in contact with, gardening, gold jewelry, red lipstick, and Subway sandwiches. Oh, and coloring in Precious Moments coloring books with her grandchildren that aren't too old to color with her. She actually used to paint a lot. She's a talented artist. She lives outside of San Francisco.
For another chunk of the trip, Bryce and I will rent a car and drive around the state.
We will head down the coast for a few days to Monterey, Carmel and Big Sur. Then we will go across to Sequoia, Kings Canyon, and Yosemite National Parks. Then up to Lake Tahoe, and back to Nanny's. We will be doing a lot of camping, hiking, and taking lots of pictures. We've been researching the areas, sites to see, places to go. I can't believe there's so much to see just in this one section of the state! It's a huge state. I was born in California and lived there until the first grade. Emily and Tim used to live in L.A. Nanny, Aunt Christie and her family all live there. Aunt Judy and her family lived in the L.A. area for awhile. Mom and Dad went on their honeymoon to Carmel. My family has lots of ties to the state. I'm excited to see more of Northern California. Many people have been to San Diego and/or L.A., but the northern area is SO different.
I like the touch of the song. When you get back you should make a slide show of your pictures to this song and post it. Your granny sounds so nice. Have fun with her and traveling around with Bryce.
